Six years ago, Nas proved he was not a doctor nor Nostradamus when he pronounced hip-hop dead. A case could be made commercial hip-hop is lifeless in 2012, but the artform as a whole appears invigorated with fresh voices popping up all over the map. This year, in particular, has seen a flood of quality releases.

Today it’s time for a quick list of my favorite concerts of 2012 (so far). For comparison’s sake, here were my favorite concerts of 2011. That list notably left off my favorite show of 2011, which happened after I compiled my Top 10.
