Six years ago, Nas proved he was not a doctor nor Nostradamus when he pronounced hip-hop dead. A case could be made commercial hip-hop is lifeless in 2012, but the artform as a whole appears invigorated with fresh voices popping up all over the map. This year, in particular, has seen a flood of quality releases.
